Eugene L. VanBurch, MSW, LCSW

I am a licensed clinical social worker with nearly 10 years of direct clinical experience treating children, disadvantaged youth, adults and couples. I have a particular passion for helping people deal with anxiety, behavioral issues, depression, grief and loss, relationship issues, and stress.

 

In order to help you achieve your therapeutic goals, I employ a variety of treatment approaches, including cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy, crisis intervention, motivational therapy, and narrative therapy. During our sessions, I am person-centered and solution-focused.

 

I offer all of my clients a non-judgmental atmosphere and encourage each person to be a willing participant in obtaining the assistance he/she needs to live a productive and healthy life.

 

Before and after launching Alive Therapy Services, I held full-time and contract positions at privately owned counseling practices, as well as several positions utilizing my expertise in the school/medical systems, including classroom intervention clinician, school social worker, and clinical supervisor. 

 

My career experience offers a unique skill set and approach, in particular, to treat the family unit, as well as small children and adolescents, while helping parents learn how to collaborate with school administrators in order to meet the needs of their children.

 

I earned a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College (New York) and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Temple University (Pennsylvania).

I have also attained Gottman Method Couples Therapy Level 1 Clinical Training.
 

I am licensed to work with clients in Maryland, Virginia, the District of Columbia, New York and Pennsylvania.
